意大利足球协会(FIGC) recently announced plans to expand the capacity of several stadiums in the country''s top-tier football league, Serie A. The expansion is aimed at increasing fan engagement and revenue for clubs, as well as improving the overall spectator experience.
The first stadium to undergo expansion is the Stadio Olimpico di Roma, home to AS Roma and Lazio. The new seating capacity will be increased from 72,000 to 85,000, with an additional 13,000 seats added in the north stand. This will make it one of the largest stadiums in Europe.
Another stadium set for expansion is the Stadio San Paolo in Naples, home to SSC Napoli. The new seating capacity will be increased from 60,000 to 65,000, with an additional 5,000 seats added in the south stand. This will allow more fans to attend matches and increase revenue for the club.
The expansion is part of a larger plan by FIGC to modernize and upgrade stadiums across the country. The aim is to create a better fan experience, increase revenue for clubs, and attract more international events to Italy.
The expansion will also include improvements to infrastructure, including increased parking spaces, improved accessibility, and upgraded amenities such as food and beverage options and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Serie A stadium expansion plan is expected to be completed by the 2023-2024 season. It is a significant investment in Italian football and reflects the country''s commitment to hosting major international events and creating a world-class fan experience.
